Update on the Pete Perry tax situation

I received word today that Pete Perry had cleared up his delinquent taxes referenced in one of Ryan's posts last week.  Mr. Perry's Neshoba County Fair cabin had been listed for tax sale in the local paper, and is currently listed as being up for tax sale on the Neshoba County website as well.

So I called the Neshoba County Tax Collector, Mike Lewis, and asked him if Mr. Perry had paid his delinquent taxes.  Mr. Lewis confirmed that Mr. Perry had, in fact, paid the 2012 taxes that were causing his property to be listed for sale.  However, Mr. Lewis stated that Mr. Perry had not paid his 2013 taxes, which were due February 1, 2014.  So if you're looking at buying a tax deed to Mr. Perry's Fair cabin, you're out of luck this year.

The assessor gave you incorrect information (or) whomever talked to him/her did not grasp how it works.

The 2013 taxes, which are due 1-1-2014 are the ones being advertised in the paper for the tax sale coming up on Monday the 25th. IF Perry had not paid the 2012 taxes they would have been sold last year (2013)in August.

If the 2013 taxes are not paid you CAN purchase them at the Tax Sale next Monday.

The sales mature in 2 years from the date of the SALE. So the 2013 taxes if purchased at the sale would mature in August of 2015.

Correction to the comment I made above. The maturity date of the sale to occur this Monday would be August of 2016, not 2015.

If you look at the tax payment history on Pete Perry's Neshoba taxes they have gone to the tax sale for the following years:

2012 Purchasr:OLD 97 PROPERTIES, LLC NOT REDEEMED
2011 Purchaser: CRISTY CRANE BROOKS NOT REDEEMED
2010 REDEEMED

Is this blog still one of the best "political blogs"? I'm confused. I never see anything about the issues, just a Pete Perry witch hunt. OH and very cynical writing that comes off more bitter than anything.
