GOP AG nominee Steve Simpson says he's current on taxes. He's not.

Mississippi Republican Attorney General candidate Steve Simpson was on Paul Gallo's radio show this morning on SuperTalk radio. He was asked whether or not he was current on his property taxes. You will recall that Simpson had failed to pay his property taxes on his home for 2009, leading to a tax sale. Simpson recently redeemed his home, and declared the matter over.

The problem is, of course, that taxes have to be paid each year. When asked on the radio this morning whether or not he currently owed any property taxes, Simpson said he did not. A call to the Harrison County Tax Collector's proved that to be false, however. The tax collector verified that Simpson currently owes $4,823.34 in 2010 taxes which included $185.51 in late fees.
