Here's what Rep. Diane Peranich (D-Pass Christian) had to say about the vote today and its impact on the Coast:
“Today, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed a plan that is unquestionably superior to that proposed by House Republicans for Gulf Coast homeowners,” Peranich said.
“Under the House plan passed today, eight districts extend to the Gulf of Mexico – Districts 109, 111, 113, 115, 117, 120, 121, and 122. Under the Republican alternative, only seven seats would have touched the Gulf – Districts 111, 113, 115, 117, 120, 121, and 122.
“This is significant because it is Coast homeowners who face the greatest challenges in securing affordable homeowners insurance. Diminishing the voice of these homeowners would almost certainly have an adverse impact on important votes for Wind Pool funding and various other insurance initiatives.”
This was a big win for Coast residents and businesses. Now we get to see if the Senate will throw the Coast under the bus and force this to the courts, where the Coast will struggle to maintain their current number of seats.

The coast needs to call Senator Gollott and ask him to vote to concur.
