Thanks, Haley

Governor Barbour has reportedly pardoned David Glenn Gatlin, a 40 year-old trustee at the Governor’s mansion who was convicted of murder, aggravated assault, and burglary in 1993.  The victim of these crimes was his wife, Tammy Ellis Gatlin.

Barbour has demonstrated stunning recklessness in his use of executive authority to prematurely release or pardon violent criminals.  An incredibly high percentage of these moves have involved crimes against women.  Here again, we have a wife murderer being released well before his time.  And again we have a family who fears for their safety.
