First the Hatch Act, then the taxes, and now 773 missing items

Looks like Steve Simpson, as Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, had a hard time keeping folks from walking off with public property:

What exactly are these 773 missing items?  How many of them are guns?

This is now the third gaffe for Simpson, the Republican nominee for Attorney General of Mississippi.  First he was accused of Hatch Act violations which would potentially cost Mississippi federal funds. (Coverage here, here, and here.)  Then his tax problems surfaced. (See here, here, here, and here.)  And now this.  What's next?
