Tracking Isaac

Of course everyone in Mississippi remembers what happened 7 years ago this week, and you can't help but feel a bit ill after watching the weather over the last 24 hours.  As Tropical Storm Isaac continues to slowly move across the Gulf and build strength, reliable information could not be more important.

I recommend the following Facebook page of the 2012 Gulf Coast Atlantic/Pacific Hurricane Tracking Center and Hurricane Isaac Updates.  They tend to be more focused on the proposed track of the storm than The Weather Channel, who is apparently more interested in showing footage of rain falling in Florida and montages of brave weather anchors reporting from the shores than in actually providing information.

For more localized information, Hancock County residents should pay attention to the Facebook page of Rep. David Baria (D - Bay St. Louis).  He's getting the updates out from Hancock County EMA.  Ocean Springs residents can follow Mayor Connie Moran's Facebook page for updates there.

Currently, the models have Isaac making landfall west of New Orleans as a Category 1.  We should know more tonight.
