As promised: Mississippi's ALEC legislators

I promised this a few days ago, and now it's time to deliver.  Here's a list of Mississippi Legislators that are ALEC members.  Some of the Mississippi ALEC members were defeated last year, including Rep. Jim Ellington, the ALEC state chairman and 2011 ALEC State Legislator of the Year.  Each member's ALEC committee assignment is listed beside their name.

I'm sure that newly-elected legislators will be joining ALEC, if they haven't already.  But it is very interesting to compare the bills these legislators propose with the ALEC model bills.

As an aside, Mississippi Democrats have paid their $25 ALEC membership dues before.  Notably, Rep. Bobby Moak (D - Bogue Chitto) and Rep. Steve Holland (D - Plantersville).  Both have defended doing so as an opportunity to check up on what the other side was doing, all while getting an all-expenses paid vacation out of the deal.  Since the media is typically banned from ALEC events, that doesn't sound like a terrible strategy.

*The above list of ALEC members comes from www.alecexposed.org, however I have cleaned it up to reflect recent electoral results.
