Judicial redistricting dead

As the deadline passed last night, no agreement could be reached on judicial redistricting. SB 2474 and HB 1026 both died on the calendar, meaning there will be no help this year for overworked judges in districts that have seen explosive population growth over the past decade.

This also means that the qualifying deadline for circuit and chancery judgeships will not change. As a result, judicial campaigns can now begin publicly soliciting support, something that would have likely been delayed if a judicial redistricting bill had passed.
