For months, we've had politicians and commentators (myself included) go on and on about Medicaid expansion. We've had a few hospital administrators talk about the need for expansion as well. But what we haven't had a lot of is doctors themselves speaking out, and that certainly gave aid and comfort to those looking to stop Medicaid expansion.
That changed significantly Sunday.
Sunday's Hattiesburg-American editorial by Dr. Joe Campbell of Forrest General Hospital was about as devastating a blow as one could foresee for the anti-expansion crowd. Quickly and widely distributed over social media, the piece explains why the question of Medicaid expansion is not one of "supporting Obamacare", but simply one of keeping our hospitals open.
You can, and should, read the entire editorial here.
